Booking A Trip

Decide on the time and dates for your trip. You may choose one of our packaged trips with pre scheduled dates, or customize the dates to fit your needs. Tours can be all cultural, all trekking, or a wonderful balance of both. Contact us at Eastern Horizons any time for suggestions or to answer any questions.

Reserving Your Trip

1. Work out your travel itinerary with us and we will be sure seats are available on Druk Air for your chosen dates. Go to our contact page -->

2. Send us your deposit so we can begin processing your application and secure Druk Air tickets for you.

Confirming Your Trip

After confirming your travel plans with your deposit, we will send you a detailed trip itinerary, pre-departure trip information and optional travel insurance information.
Your final trip payment must be in the form of wire transfer, certified check, money order, pay-pal or credit card* and is due 60 days prior to departure.
(* Note: for credit card transactions we pass along the extra finance charges that the credit card companies charge us)

Visa Formalities

Eastern Horizons will process your application prior to your arrival in Bhutan. You will not be allowed to board a Druk Air flight (Royal Bhutan Airlines) or enter Bhutan until a visa clearance number has been obtained. A completed application form must be forwarded to Eastern Horizons. We will process your visa ahead of time and a copy of this approval will be sent to you. We will need to have a passport photocopy from each traveler, along with the completed application, as soon as possible.

Tourism Authority of Bhutan and Tariffs

The Bhutan Department of Tourism regulates all tourism related activities in Bhutan. The existing travel agencies are registered with them, and they also fix the daily tariff rates. Thirty-five percent of the daily tariff goes directly to the Department of Tourism and hence to the national treasury. These funds are used by the government for the socioeconomic development of Bhutan, and hospitals, schools, and roads are built and maintained with the income. The Department of Tourism has released a travel information web site at www.tourism.gov.bt detailing their role and the regulations by which we and all other travel agencies are governed.
